But we are not finished yet; in fact, we still have a very long way to go in reaching our $50,000 goal by the end of January 2013. I have just two more months to raise these funds – without them, I will physically be unable to travel to West Africa and fight for the thousands of gorillas and chimpanzees who are counting on my help. Hundreds of babies and families are being slaughtered every week and desperately need my help. The position I will be filling is completely unfunded; in order for me to conduct any undercover operations to help great apes, I have to raise those necessary funds myself. Remember – these funds do not go toward a salary for me, nor will they become my personal profit – every single penny raised will go directly toward my medical costs and insurance, basic living expenses and undercover equipment and data storage.

Time is running out quickly, and I strongly urge you to donate now to our campaign. No amount you can afford is too big or too small – I graciously appreciate anything you are comfortable giving. You can scroll through this blog to see some breakdowns of our budget, and how your generous donations will be utilized, dollar for dollar. You can donate securely through our fundly and indiegogo pages via credit card or paypal. At various giving levels, you will receive perks from ARM, which are explained in depth on our fundly and indiegogo pages. And please, if you haven’t done so already, spread the word about ARM to all of your friends and family; the easiest way is to send them our facebook link, and ask them to like us – this is a huge help for me as well!

Again, I thank you so much for your support of my journey. Together, we can make my goal a tangible reality, and help stop the needless slaughter and destruction of these majestic great apes.

Photo

West African countries require Yellow Fever vaccine for entry

Vaccinations for Yellow Fever, Tetanus, Diptheria, Hepatitus

http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/product2.aspx?number=711171...

http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/product2.aspx?number=711171633

Baby chimp rescued this week by PALF in Congo, part of the...

Baby chimp rescued this week by PALF in Congo, part of the network that Ape Rescue Mission is joining in West Africa.

Dr Eddy Kambale with Gorilla Doctors, holding the 4-month old...

Dr Eddy Kambale with Gorilla Doctors, holding the 4-month old baby gorilla.

Mission

To raise approximately $50,000 by the beginning of 2013 in order to travel to Africa and fight cruelty to great apes. The funds will go directly toward undercover and documentary video equipment and living expenses for one person for one year, filling an open position of an African great ape nonprofit organization.

Description

Ape Rescue Mission (ARM) for Africa is a fundraising initiative that would fill a well-established great ape protection group’s open position of working in Africa and exposing horrendous cruelty inflicted on great apes. This position urgently needs to be filled and is completely unfunded; your generous support would contribute to filling the position and sending one investigator to Africa by the beginning of 2013.

Background
For decades, chimpanzees and gorillas of Africa’s Congo Basin have been brought to the brink of extinction due to illegal poaching, trafficking and slaughter. Babies are torn from their mothers, and grisly markets of ape heads, hands and other body parts flourish in the black market. If enough funds are raised via ARM for Africa, an experienced animal cruelty investigator will travel to Africa to spend at least one year undercover in the continent’s worst countries for apes, documenting and filming evidence of cruelty and illegal trafficking, and using this evidence for criminal prosecution of all offenders caught on film. The investigator would be filling an open position for a dedicated nonprofit group based in Cameroon that works tirelessly to expose cruelty to great apes and uses evidence of illegal wildlife activity to help enforce anti-trafficking, slaughter and poaching laws. The nonprofit has had numerous successes in the African countries they’ve targeted so far, and is looking to expand to add more people to investigate other countries, replicating already established methods, goals and outcomes.

Who is ARM sending?
ARM will send a skilled undercover investigator, who has over a decade of experience working on some of the largest animal cruelty cases in the United States, to Africa. The investigator carries a complex balance of talent, creativity and resiliency necessary for this complex endeavor.

Photo
